Butler planning outdoor prom
Butler High School is planning to hold an outdoor prom on campus May 7 for seniors in the Class of 2021.
Principal John Wyllie said some plans are still being developed, but the main bus circle outside of the high school will serve as the venue, and a DJ will play music. The cafeteria will be open with drinks available and to provide a place for students to sit. The lobby of the auditorium will be available as an air-conditioned cool-off spot in the event of hot weather.
Wyllie said the school will send information to parents about ticket sales, traffic flow, community viewing of the promenade, or “attendee walk,” parking, drop-off and other details.
The prom is a formal event, and proper attire and behavior is required. Suits or tuxedos and long dresses or other dressy outfits are appropriate. All clothing must adhere to the dress code, including length and exposure requirements, Wyllie said. Jeans and other casual clothes are not permitted, he added.
