Man arrested after 1-car crash in Clinton Twp

The driver in a one-car crash Monday night in Clinton Township was arrested by state police for suspicion of driving under the influence.

CLINTON TWP — After responding to a one-vehicle crash on Victory Road on Monday, state police arrested a Pittsburgh man for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Emergency crews were dispatched at around 6:30 p.m. to the accident with Butler County 911 dispatchers initially alerting them of an unresponsive person in the vehicle.

Saxonburg Fire and EMS departments arrived and found an unresponsive man in the driver's seat of a Hyundai sedan that had been driven off the road into a wooded area south of Victory Road, near its intersection with Spring Valley Road.

Firefighters said the male driver, later identified by state police as Kirby Hickman, 31, of Pittsburgh, became responsive as they approached and then became combative and tried to put the car in reverse. Firefighters said they were able to calm the man until police arrived.

Traffic was restricted to one lane around the crash until the tow truck removed the vehicle around 7:30 p.m.

Hickman was evaluated on the scene and was determined to have no injuries, before police placed him under arrest.
