Men sentenced on drug charges

Father, son had plants in home

Afather and son were sentenced on Thursday for growing marijuana plants in their basement.

Agents from the state's Attorney General's office last spring found nine marijuana plants and miscellaneous growing equipment, including lights, pots and fertilizer in the basement at 215 W. Mercer St., Harrisville.

The house, then occupied by David James McCullon, 40, and David Wayne McCullon, 22, also contained different drug use items, such as pipes and rolling papers, according to court documents.

The elder McCullon, who still lists the same address, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with the intention to deliver. He was ordered to spend 2 years on probation, pay a $600 fine and seek a drug and alcohol evaluation and counseling.

The younger McCullon, who now lists an address of 709 Cedar St., Grove City, pleaded guilty to the same charge. He was sentenced to serve up to 180 days in prison, but was immediately paroled on credit for the 11 days he already spent in prison.

When his parole ends, he will serve another 18 months of probation. He also must pay a $600 fine and seek drug and alcohol evaluation and counseling.

Butler County Judge George Hancher sentenced both men.

"I screwed up,"the younger McCullon said in addressing the judge.

David Wayne McCullon said he has changed his life significantly since his October 2005 arrest. He said he has gotten his GEDand a job.
