Teen injured at dirt bike track
A teenage boy was injured Sunday afternoon while riding a dirt bike on the indoor track at Switchback Raceway off Route 8 in Clay Township, authorities said.
The boy suffered minor to moderate injuries, and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after the wreck about 2:15 p.m., according to Dan Bunyan, chief of the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department.
The teen apparently lost control of his bike on the middle of the track. Authorities noted that the track was crowded with riders, but it was not immediately known if any saw the crash.
Emergency crews found him laying where he crashed, and in “a lot of pain,” Bunyan said. The boy reportedly complained of pain throughout his body.
A Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to him. He was fitted with a cervical collar and placed on a backboard and stretcher before being taken by ambulance to the hospital. His condition was unavailable.
