Police seek suspect in purse-snatching
State police are looking for an unknown robber who snatched a woman's purse Sunday morning and made his getaway in a car in Center Township.
The man is described as white, between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt that was pulled up over his head. He was wearing black or dark shorts.
Police said the victim, a 59-year-old woman, had just returned from the store a little after 9:10 a.m. and was carrying groceries into her home. She had her purse over her right shoulder.
The suspect was apparently riding in a gray sedan that pulled up between the victim's home and another house. She did not see the car at the time. She also never saw the man's face.
He got out and snatched the victim's Stone Mountain purse, which contained her cell phone, prescription eyeglasses, credit and bank cards and a small amount of money, a family member said.
She had her keys in her hand and they were not taken. She was not injured.
The woman saw the man get into the front passenger side of the car, but she did not see the driver, the relative said. The car, police said, was last seen headed toward Route 308.
Police canvassed the neighborhood but they found no witnesses.
