Roy L. Armagost

Roy L. Armagost, 63, of Parker died late Tuesday evening at his home after a long illness.

Born Jan. 4, 1942, in Brookville, he was the son of the James and Alda Elizabeth Wampler Armagost.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. Armagost worked at Pullman Standard for 17 years until it closed. He then became a self-employed tractor-trailer operator.

He was a member of the Parker City Volunteer Fire Co. and served for years with the Parker City Fire Police. He also belonged to the Parker Centennial Committee and was a great supporter and worker on the annual fire company carnivals. He enjoyed good humor and golfing.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Best Armagost; a son, Randy S. and Stacy Armagost of Boyers; a daughter Mrs. Michael (Melissa) Alworth of Parker; five sisters, Sue Himes of Punxsutawney, Mary Alice Smith of York, Faye Armagost of Michigan and Elizabeth Milford and Phyllis Raltenbaugh Armagost, both of Greenville; and two brothers, John Armagost of Sandy Lake and Joseph Armagost of Newport News, Va.

He also is survived by four grandsons, Tyler, Kyle and Andrew Armagost of Boyers and Braden Alworth of Parker, and a number of nieces and nephews.

ARMAGOST - Friends of Roy L. Armagost, who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rimersburg Cemetery.
