BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board at its meeting Monday night:
Voted to participate in the Pennsylvania Youth Survey.
The survey, administered every other year by the state Commission on Crime and Delinquency, is given to students in grades 6, 8, 10, 12 and gathers information on alcohol, tobacco, violence, depression and other problem behaviors.
The responses to the survey questions are confidential and students, or their parents, can opt out of answering questions or participating at all.
The Karns City, Moniteau and Slippery Rock school districts are also participating.
School board member Bill Halle secured a $2,000 grant from Butler County human services to cover the district’s administrative costs associated with the survey. The district has until Nov. 22 to give the survey.
Voted to buy six new starting blocks for the swimming pool, at a cost of $23,837 from Kiefer Swim Products. The expense was included in this year’s budget.
