Edward F. Goldscheitter

Edward F. Goldscheitter, 87, of Clinton Township passed away Feb. 7, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a monthlong battle with COVID-19.

He was born April 21, 1933, in Clinton Township, and was the son of the late Julius and Josephine (Palko) Goldscheitter.

Edward, with his son William, owned and operated Goldscheitter Dairy Farm in Clinton Township, which his grandfather started in 1924. Over the years, he expanded the farm from the original 270 acres to over 600 acres.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Edward played the accordion in “The Eddie Goldscheitter Trio,” a local polka and square dance band.

Since 1958, for 63 years, Edward kept a daily journal to chronicle the history of the Goldscheitter family and farm.

Ed believed that farming was a true profession, and he loved to advocate for the farming lifestyle and culture. It was not just a job, it was his life.

He was a member of St. Clement/Holy Martyrs Church, where he served on parish council, was an usher, and a member of the Slovak Heritage Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Krumenacker) Goldscheitter, and most recently, his son, Edward J. Goldscheitter, who passed away on Jan. 4, 2021.
