Robbery suspects appear in court
EVANS CITY — The two men accused of shooting another man in an attempted robbery last week will remain in Butler County Prison.
Jahote C. Dorsey, 21, and Joshua D. Norris, 30, both of Butler appeared in district court Tuesday. They are both charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Norris allegedly shot Oliver Philogene in the arm on Saturday at his apartment.
Both men waived their cases to court and they are scheduled to appear in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas on Feb. 23.
The suspects, both represented by court appointed attorneys, also requested District Judge Wayne Seibel set a bond amount so they potentially could be released from prison.
However, Seibel Tuesday informed them that he does not have the authority to set a bond amount for a homicide charge. A county judge may decide to reduce the charges or set a bond amount next month, he said.
