Man arrested In Adams Twp. shooting

ADAMS TWP — A manhunt led by township police with help from state police and other local departments ended late Tuesday night with the capture of a man suspected in a domestic dispute during which a gun was fired, authorities said.

Grant A. Werner, 31, of Center Township is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail. He is charged with burglary, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.

Adams Township police were called to Werner's parents' farm on the 1100 block of Mars Evans City Road.

His mother reported that when she returned home Tuesday evening, she found the defendant working on the farm, police said. He apparently got into an altercation with her over an ongoing property dispute.

She recounted that when he became more aggressive toward her, she went into the house to get away from him. She locked the door.

Werner at some point allegedly retrieved a handgun and used his own keys to unlock the door to the house. Once inside, police said, he began waving the gun at the victim.

The woman grabbed a cell phone and ran to the bathroom, locked herself in the room and called 911.

At some point, police said, she heard a gunshot.
