Police search for bank robber
CENTER TWP – Authorities are looking for a man who was wearing a motorcycle helmet Sunday afternoon when he robbed a bank inside the Giant Eagle store at the Clearview Mall.
State police said the man at 12:54 p.m. walked into the Citizens Bank branch on Route 8 and handed a note demanding money. He made off with an undisclosed amount of currency.
State police said Monday that they have a suspect in the bank robbery.
They also believe they have the robber’s getaway vehicle — a motorcycle.
“We have a suspect,” Long said this morning. The suspect was not in custody but police were “actively working” leads in the investigation, Long added.
He credited “someone from the community who gave us information” with helping police identify a suspect so quickly.
Long also said police have recovered the suspect’s motorcycle. He would not elaborate.
The robber is described as white and about 6 feet tall. Along with the helmet, he was wearing an orange long-sleeved shirt or hooded sweatshirt with a Harley Davidson logo or wording on the front.
The man also was carrying a dark-colored backpack.
Police said no weapons were seen or displayed.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-284-8100, or 911.
