Helen Lowry Schalles
Helen Lowry Schalles, 93, of Pleasant Hills, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday.
She was the wife of 59 years to James Walter Schalles; mother of Dr. John F. (Nancy) Schalles of Omaha, Neb., Jeffrey (Marjorie) Schalles of Minneapolis, Minn., David G. (Lori) Schalles of Jefferson Hills, Pa., and the late Nancy L. Schalles; grandmother of Dr. Matthew D., James M., Julie A., Stephanie L., Mark D., Lilian, Alex and Joe; great-grandmother of Violet and Vayn; sister of the late John B. Lowry and the late Gardner S. Lowry; and daughter of the late Gardner C. and Louise Lowry.
Helen was a secretary for U.S. Steel and volunteered at PHCPC, where she was also an elder. She was a DAR member and enjoyed reading, playing bridge and cooking.
SCHALLES — Visitation for Helen Lowry Schalles, who died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh.A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church.
