CRANBERRY TWP — A township man is being held on $30,000 bail after he allegedly threatened his father with a knife.

Connor L. Byer, 19, of Maureen Drive was arrested Tuesday night and arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Lewis Stoughton on simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor and carrying false identification card charges.

Police were dispatched at 9 p.m. to the house after Byer’s father called 911 to report a disturbance, according to the criminal complaint filed by township police.

When they arrived, they found Byer in the front yard of the house, allegedly holding a steak knife by his side. He allegedly would not drop the knife and “made statements to the officer to shoot him,” according to the complaint.

After a short struggle, he was handcuffed and placed in the police vehicle. His father reported that he had been destroying items in the house and punching holes in the wall before grabbing the knife and making threats.

Police also allege that he was intoxicated and was carrying a fraudulent New Jersey identification.

He was still in Butler County Prison as of Thursday and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 16.
