Bitter cold to close out 2017
Butler County may have missed the record-setting snowfalls that inundated parts of northwestern Pennsylvania over the Christmas holiday, but a week of cold temperatures is still expected to give county residents chills in the run-up to the new year.
Temperatures in Butler County are expected to peak on Friday, with a high of 23 degrees according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. For the rest of the week temperatures are only expected to reach the mid-teens or slightly higher, according to the NWS' forecast.
Tomorrow is expected to be the coldest day of the week, with a high of 15 degrees and a low of 5 degrees, according to NWS.
No snow is expected until later in the week, with the possibility of precipitation on Thursday night, and throughout Friday and Saturday.
The forecast represents some of the coldest temperatures the county has experienced all year.
