Organizers cancel 2020 Butler Fall Festival

Another Butler Main Street event has become a casualty of the coronavirus. The annual Fall Festival announced Tuesday the cancelation of its September plans.

The festival was slated to return to Main Street after moving to Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in 2019 due to lack of volunteers.

The cancelation of the Sept. 19 event was announced in a news release from festival organizers which stated that along with the being unable to maintain the sponsors needed for the event, “the response to the pandemic has severely hindered the ability to plan, prepare for, and predict the necessary guidelines that would need to be in place for the festival to occur.”

Although organizing the Fall Festival is unfeasible this year, the festival's board of directors said they are “still committed to having the community spirit of the festival occur the weekend of Sept. 19.”

The board plans to make the festival's existing funding available for possible events that weekend like concerts, community parties or children's activities.
