Karns City to face Brookville Friday
The timing may not be right, but the game is happening anyway.
Karns City (0-1) travels to (1-0) Brookville for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday, putting its inexperienced pass defense up against an offense that broke loose through the air last week.
Freshman quarterback Jack Krug completed 25 of 37 passes for 372 yards and five touchdowns — the passing yardage marking a school record — in the Raiders' 54-20 season-opening win over Warren. Karns City coughed up a pair of touchdown passes in its 41-14 loss at Armstrong.
“Sure, it's a concern,” KC coach Ed Conto said about containing Brookville's passing attack. “Their coach (Scott Park) came from Dubois, where they threw the ball all over the place. And they've got some good receivers."
The Raiders generated 541 yards of offense in their opener. The Gremlins had a net 156 yards vs. Armstrong.
However, history is on the Gremlins' side this week, as Karns City owns a 22-8-2 edge in the all-time series between the teams, including a 47-0 win last season.
