Walkers fill up city sidewalks to raise drug addiction awareness
A large crowd came out on the third annual Walk of Hope in support of the fight against drug addiction.
A record 240 participants walked in downtown Butler to bring awareness of those who have been hurt by drugs.
The Saturday event was organized by Hope for Broken Hearts, which is a family support group for people affected with loved ones caught up in addiction.
There were several speakers, including pastors who offered prayers for families, those fighting addiction, those in recovery, and the community.
A prayer was held in the Westminster Church parking lot to start the event. The participants then walked to the Butler County Courthouse on Main Street for a prayer.
Next they went to the county prison for a prayer. The walk ended in a prayer back at the church.
This group focuses on support, education and saving lives. It allows people to speak openly about their experiences and their fears that other people cannot begin to understand.
