Violet L. DeMatteis

Violet L. DeMatteis, 89, of Butler passed away Friday morning at her residence.

Born in Butler on July 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Antonia Nanni DeMatteis.

Violet was employed as the assistant treasurer at Pittsburgh Home Savings and Loan Association. She retired in 1990 with 29 years service.

She was previously employed at the American Bantam Car Company, the Sears catalog department, the Diana Paradise Dress Shop and the Workingman's Building and Loan Association.

She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

She enjoyed bowling and swimming, and she cherished the time she spent with her family.

Violet is survived by four sisters, Eleanor Lasky of Butler, Sylvia Wigton of Butler, Angela DeMatteis of Butler and Joan Jannetti and her husband, Harry, of New Castle; a number of nieces and nephews; and her main caregiver, Vicki Charlton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Domenic DeMatteis and Michaelangelo DeMatteis, and four sisters, Ann Krankota, Clara DeMatteis, Elisa Thomas and Anita Denny.

DEMATTEIS — Friends of Violet L. DeMatteis, who died Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.Burial will take place in Saint Michael's Cemetery.The bereavement group of Saint Michael's Parish will meet at the funeral home on Sunday at 3 p.m. to conduct a scriptural wake service.For more information, visit www.martinfh.net.
