William “Bill” Harry Moore
William “Bill” Harry Moore, 72, of Springfield, Va., formerly of Chicora, passed away Thursday at his home in Springfield.
William was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Karns City, the son of Harry and Hazel Wilson Moore. He was the youngest child of four children, Raymond “Ray” Moore, Suzanne “Sue” Moore and Harriett Edwards, all of Chicora.
Bill graduated from Moniteau High School in 1960. He began his working life in the U.S. Civil Service Commission at the former limestone mine in Boyers. In 1966, Bill transferred to the Washington, D.C., office. In 1969, Bill became a real estate broker, a career that spanned 30 years and touched many lives for the good.
He and his wife, Edith “Edie” Beikert Moore, were married Sept. 25, 1971, at Fairlington United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Va., where he has been a member since Feb. 25, 1968, and settled in Springfield, Va.
Together they raised Carol Moore, who resides in Haymarket, Va., in a home in the country that Bill took great delight overseeing from a rehabilitation to normal maintenance in his retirement years. Bill dedicated the last 40 years of his life to being the best husband and father possible, and he “succeeded big time.”
Bill has been very fortunate to have Wilbert “Bert” and Erma Beikert Mowry of Butler as in-laws. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews, Roger Moore and his wife, Judi, of Sheffield; Jeffrey “Jeff” Moore and his wife, Lisa, of Chicora; Elizabeth “Beth” Moore of Butler; Todd Mowry and his wife, Karen, of Pittsburgh and Greta Mowry Remington and her husband, Charles, of San Francisco, Calif.
In recent years, Bill had the pleasure of watching Morgan Martin, Carol's goddaughter, pursue a degree at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., while living with Carol in Haymarket, Va.
On Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, God let Bill join him. We cherish his love, humor, kindness and words of wisdom such as “this too shall pass.”
