Jean Wilson Guth
Jean Wilson Guth, 84, of Zelienople passed away suddenly on Wednesday at the Ellwood City Hospital.
Born Feb. 15, 1928, in Evans City, she was the daughter of the late Edwin L. and Elizabeth (Neal) Wilson.
She graduated from Zelienople High School in 1945 and from West Penn Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
During the Korean War, Jean was a first lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force nurses. For three years she was an on-flight registered nurse caring for patients with gunshot wounds being flown from Korea to Japan, where they received surgery and medical care prior to being sent home to the states.
After returning stateside, Jean married William Guth on May 12, 1956, and they had three wonderful children, Marcia Guth, married to Richard Bamburak, of Wexford, and twins, William A. Guth, married to Valerie (Trybus), of Ellwood City and Barbara A. Guth, whose partner is George Greenwood, both of Boulder, Colo. They also have two beautiful granddaughters, Logan and Taylor Guth of Ellwood City.
Jean was passionately committed to nursing and caring for others all of her life. She found great joy in her beloved family, riding the ocean waves, and volunteering for over 10 years with Meals on Wheels. She had an infectious “joie de vivre” and a beautifully generous spirit that inspired so many around her. She will be profoundly missed by all who have deeply loved her.
