James E. Hahn

James E. Hahn, 78, of Zelienople passed away Monday while under the care of UPMC Cranberry Place.

Born Jan. 20, 1939, in Monaca, he was the son of the late Gerhard E. Hahn and Alice M. (Murray) Hahn.

Jim graduated from Monaca High School and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956, where he served as an airplane mechanic. He then worked as a crane operator at Halstead Industries in Zelienople for almost 30 years, and later, Hussey Copper in Leetsdale, until retiring in 1999.

Jim enjoyed his garden, fishing, loved going out to breakfast and taking a drive. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

He will be dearly missed by his family.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Sharon Widenhofer and her husband, Shawn, of Cranberry Township; his son, Jason Hahn of Zelienople; his grandchildren, Sarah, Seth and Spencer Widenhofer; his sister, Patricia Hahn of Ellwood City; his brother, Herbert Hahn of Monaca; one nephew and several nieces and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce M. White Hahn; and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hahn.

HAHN — The family of James E. Hahn, who died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.Jim will be laid to rest at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his and his wife, Joyce's, honor to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, Va., 22202.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
