Bernice Donna Eakin McCandless, 83, of Butler passed away early Monday morning at her daughter's home.

Born on Sept. 28, 1931, in Boyers, she was the daughter of the late William Roy and Ester Phipps Eakin.

She was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church and the Unionville Fire Hall Woman's Auxiliary.

She enjoyed attending NASCAR races for years.

She is survived by her sons, David McCandless of Eau Claire, Ronny (Pat) McCandless of Fawn Grove, Robert (Lila) McCandless of Butler, and Lee Roy (Cathy) McCandless of Butler; her daughter, Darla (Richard) Marks of Butler; her 14 grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Glenda Eakin of Grove City, and her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence McCandless, who she married on Sept. 28, 1951, and who passed away on Nov. 5, 2004; her son Dennis McCandless; one grandson; and her brother, Harold Eakin.
