Moore Jr.

L. Paul Moore Jr., 85, a resident of Orchard Manor in Grove City for the past five years, formerly of Eau Claire Road, Emlenton, where he lived most of his life, passed away Friday at Grove City Medical Center, after an extended illness.

Born Jan 4, 1926, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Lawrence P. Moore Sr., who passed away June 11, 1990, and Hilda J. Rudy, who passed away in 1934. He also was preceded by two stepmothers, Kathryn Witherup, who passed away May 7, 1967; and Sarah E. Stotler, who passed away Oct 29, 1989.

Paul attended the Coal Valley Elementary School and graduated from Clintonville High School.

He then entered the U.S. Army on April 11, 1944. and served in the Asiatic Pacific theater in Japan and Korea, obtained the rank of sergeant and was discharged Nov. 27, 1946.

After being discharged from the Army, he attended Penn State University, where he graduated in 1951 and obtained his bachelor's degree in agriculture.

He was married to Lois Mong Moore on Aug. 17, 1950. She passed away Oct. 5, 2005.

Paul was the owner/operator of his own dairy farm in Clinton Township; and in 1963, he also purchased his homestead farm to further his dairy operation in the county. In 1969, he went to work for ASCS as county executive director for Venango and Forrest counties; and after working at that capacity for 20 years, he retired in 1989.

He was a member and trustee of the Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville and also was a past secretary of the Clintonville Lions Club, where he held that position for a number of years. He was a member of the Parker City/Allegheny Valley Lodge 521 F&AM in Parker and held the position of senior deacon while a member of Allegheny Valley Lodge earlier for several years. He was a member of the Oil City Lodge of Perfection and the New Castle Consistory, past master of the Scrubgrass Grange in Lisbon, Pa., and was a past master of the Pomona Grange as well.

Paul enjoyed his family and farming, his fishing trips with his wife, Lois, and being with his family and friends.

Surviving are five children, Ellen K. McClelland of Emlenton, Martha A. Marshall and her husband, Brad, of Pulaski, David P. Moore of Emlenton, Linda S. Moore and her husband, Larry Eakin, of Harrisville and William H. Moore of Emlenton; and four grandchildren, Adam and Autumn Marshall and Harley L. Moore and David Moore Jr. Also surviving is a sister, Nancy Amari of Independence, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth E. Moore, who passed away March 4, 2004; and Glenn A. Moore, who passed away May 26, 2007.

<B>MOORE</B> — Services for L. Paul Moore Jr., who died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, will be held at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephanie Thompson, chaplain of Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.V.E.T.S. Honor Guard of Franklin will be present to present the flag with honors to the family of L.
