Wike

Kenneth E. Wike, 81, of Eakin Road in Harrisville died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday at Grove Manor, Grove City, after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 5, 1926, in Wesley, Irwin Township, Venango County, he was the son of Francis B. and Rachel L. Wible Wike.

He drove trucks for many companies including Daniels Transfer in Franklin, Halls Transit of West Middlesex, W.E. Wike Trucking of Polk and most recently, Triple W. Trucking Inc. of Polk.

Mr. Wike was a member of the Pleasantview Methodist Church and an former member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

He was educated at Wesley Elementary School and the Wesley Academy.

Mr. Wike enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching NASCAR.

During World War II, he served with the Navy in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by his wife, Florence G. Taylor Wike, whom he married July 19, 1947; five children, Kenneth L. Wike and his wife, Mary, of Grove City, Richard E. Wike of Harrisville, David E. Wike and his wife, Maria, and Gary E. Wike and his wife, Barb, all of Grove City, and Kathy J. Wike of Harrisville; eight grandchildren, Melissa Feilke, Sean Wike, Jody Kearney, Janelle Tasker, Carrie Keber and David, Jacob and Rachel Wike; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Silas E. Wike and his wife, Margaret, of North East.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, twins Wilmer S. and William W. Wike, Lawrence Wike, Francis Wike, Mrs. Ralph (Anna) Kelly, Mrs. Stewart (Hazel) Himes, Mrs. Raymond (Erva Jean) Bechtel, Mrs. Eric (Florence) Lindberg and Mrs. John (Helen) Beggs.

<B>WIKE </B>— Friends of Kenneth E. Wike, who died Saturday, May 17, 2008, will be receive from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Hankey of the Pleasantview Methodist Church officiating.
