Joe E. “Posey” Day

Joe E. “Posey” Day, 88, of Butler passed away Thursday.

He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Hilliards, and was the son of John H. and Wilda Morris Day.

He worked for Civil Service in Boyers and as a heavy equipment operator throughout the U.S. He retired from Allied Construction in Iowa.

In addition to being a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Okeechobee, Fla., and the Elks of Central City, Colo., he was a U.S. Navy veteran. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving are his daughters, Marsha (Ray) Clark, Lu Ann (David) Beachem, both of Butler, and Donna Jo Ealy of Lake Worth, Fla.; his grandchildren, Paula (Justin) Lassinger, Travis (Lori) Beachem and Carrie Clark; his great-grandchildren, Zachary Beachem, Megan Smouse, Jesse Speicher Jr. and Brock and Trent Beachem; his great-great-grandson, Bryson Beachem; and his brother, Chuck.

In addition to his family, he had a large circle of friends and caretakers. Being around his grandchildren brought him enjoyment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Carl, Jack and Merle; one infant brother, Eugene; and his sister, Marian McGarvey.
