Cases rise; those in hospital still low

According to state data, Butler County's spike in cases last week caused a rise in its percent positivity rate, but its hospitalization rate remained steady.

According to the state's COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard, the county added 93 confirmed cases between Oct. 2 and last Thursday, which was 28 more than the week before.

Similarly, the county's percent positivity rate rose to 3.8%, an increase of 0.6% from the week before.

While the number of COVID-19 cases increased, the number of hospitalizations due to the virus remained the same at 0.7%.

According to a report Monday by Butler Health System, Butler Memorial Hospital had one inpatient with a confirmed case, a decrease from three reported Friday.

Clarion Hospital reported two inpatients Monday — one was confirmed to have COVID-19, while the other was suspected of having the virus. One of the inpatients was being treated in the intensive care unit at Clarion.
