William Raymond “Bill” Dickey

William Raymond “Bill” Dickey, 68, of Butler went home to be with the Lord Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Kittanning to the late George A. Dickey and Betty (Bonnett) Dickey.

Bill was a 1965 graduate of Kittanning High School, then went on to study at Butler County Community College and Grove City College, earning a degree in accounting and business.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Enterprise in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Following his service in the Navy, he joined the Army Reserves.

Bill worked at Pullman Standard in Butler until its closing, and then he was the owner and operator of Restorx Steamway in Jeanette, Pa.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the West Glade Run Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of the International Bible Study Fellowship and enjoyed photography and coin collecting. Bill was greatly involved in his nieces and nephews lives as well as his great-nieces and nephews, but was especially involved in the lives of his niece, Amber, and her daughter, Adriana.

Bill is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Staley-Dickey, who he married Sept. 20, 2003; two stepsons, Robert Staley of Butler and Brian Staley of Crafton; one brother, Floyd Edward “Ed” Dickey and his wife, Barbara, of Tiffin, Ohio; one sister, Diane K. Whittaker and her husband, Bill, of Ford City; his mother-in-law, Amy Murphy of Butler; two nieces, Amber Toy and Theresa Batesole; one nephew, Christopher Dickey; his great-niece, Emily; four great-nephews, Nick, Kenny, David and Justin; and his beloved great-nieces, Adriana and Julia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant siblings, Donald, Joseph and Linda.

DICKEY — Friends of William Raymond “Bill” Dickey, who died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. David Maitland, the Rev. Todd Wentworth and the Rev. Sam McNamara, pastors of the First Baptist Church, officiating.Burial will take place at the West Glade Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kittanning.Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Christian School, 221 W.
