Mary Lou Stockard

Mary Lou Stockard, 88, of Streetsboro, Ohio, formerly of Butler, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Sunday at the Gardens of Western Reserve Assisted Living Residence in Streetsboro.

She was born May 9, 1927, in Butler to the late Clyde Miller and Edith (Downing) Miller.

Mrs. Stockard worked in the credit department at Montgomery Ward.

She was a member of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir. Mrs. Stockard was a member of the women's bowling league in Meridian and sang in a trio with her daughters. She traveled to Mexico with her husband every year for about 20 years. Mrs. Stockard loved playing cards, especially with her weekly card club and family. She was an avid bowler and loved her garden and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Stockard is survived by four sons, John Stockard and his wife, Linda, of Erie, Pa., Thomas Stockard and his wife, Deborah, of Streetsboro, Alan Stockard and his wife, Michele, of Butler, and Jerry Stockard and his wife, Susan, of Streetsboro; two daughters, the Rev. Karen O'Malia and her husband, John, of Cheyenne, Wyo., Susan Wolford and her husband, Robert, of Sarver; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Menchyk of Cabot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Stockard, who she married Dec. 20, 1946, and who passed away Aug. 18, 2002; three brothers, Clyde, Richard and Willis Miller; and two sisters, Dorothy Gould and Clara Mae List.

STOCKARD — Friends of Mary Lou Stockard, who died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Franklin, pastor of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
