Darlene F. Mesner

Darlene F. Compton Mesner, 58, of Butler died at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Born April 24, 1946, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Either Cranmer McCandless.

She was a member of the Rider Lutheran Church and the AA and a social member of VFW Post 249, East Butler Club and Butler American Legion.

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Compton of Slippery Rock and Mrs. Shane (Ruth) McMillin of Butler; a son, James Herrington of Butler; and six grandchildren. A sister, Stella Mellen of St. Cloud, Fla., and a brother, Robert McCandless of Harlansburg, also survive.

A son and a grandson preceded her in death.

MESNER - Friends of Darlene F. Compton Mesner, who died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will follow at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David West, pastor of Christ Outreach Church, officiating.
