Byron 'Papa' Porter
Byron J. "Papa" "Bud" Porter, 82, of Butler died at 9:10 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1924, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Byron and Elizabeth Shelton Porter.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran and was stationed in the Philippines.
Mr. Porter loved cars, especially Cadillacs. He was an avid fisherman and spent a great deal of time in Quebec. He also loved antiques, old houses and sports.
He had been a salesman and sales manager for the Standard Register Co. and later worked for and became vice president of the American Thermoplastic Co. in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Conti of Butler; two sons, Byron Jeffrey Porter of Plain Grove and Mark Russell Porter of Wexford; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by three sisters, Ruth Denk and Harriet Seiferth, both of Florida, and Emmylou Conley of Mars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria June Hanson Porter, who died Jan. 11, 1992, and a sister.
