Robin's Home preparing for July opening
This is an excerpt — pick up Sunday's Butler Eagle to read the full article.Finishing touches are underway at Robin's Home in Butler, so the transitional home for female veterans and their children can open in July.“We're working on wrapping things up and getting things moved, so we can get the doors open,” said Mary Chitwood, the veteran who founded the home. “Then, we'll set up the home and let people move in. It's just the little details now.”The home will open at some point in July after the floors are painted and other touch-up work is completed, but an opening date hasn't been finalized, she said.Most of the work needed to convert the house at 401 E. Pearl St. into Robin's Home was done by volunteers with donated materials, but more donations are needed.“We need donations for utilities. Our utilities will increase once we open,” Chitwood said.In addition, nonperishable foods and gift cards for food will be needed for the veterans and their children, she said.
