Edna l. Steward

Edna I. Steward, 82, of East Prairie Street in Harrisville, formerly of Roaring Spring, Pa., died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Altoona, Oct. 27, 1926, she was the daughter of Isaac Franell and Alverda (Shaner) Franell.

A graduate of Altoona High School, she was a homemaker and formerly worked as a custodian at the Jaffa Mosque of Altoona.

She currently attended the Forestville United Methodist Church. She was a member of St. John's Reformed church of East Sharpsburg. She also attended Slippery Rock Senior Center and was a member of the Early Bird Bowling Team of Grove City. She was an avid crocheter.

Surviving are three daughters, Marlene Stemmerich and her husband, Russ, of Harrisville, Judith Cooper and her husband, Dan, of Harlansburg and Betty Jane Neely and her husband, John, of Altoona; five sons, Arthur Franell and his wife, Kandy, of Altoona, Theodore Miller and his companion, Mary Ann, of Las Vegas, Nev., Thomas Shafer and his wife, Debbie, of Altoona, Emert Steward and his wife of South Carolina and John Steward and his wife of South Carolina; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A sister, Dorothy James of Altoona, also survives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Max Steward, whom she married in January 1964, and who died Nov. 18, 2004; and a grandson, Brian James Bair.

<B>STEWARD</B> — Viewing for Edna I. Steward, who died Sunday, July 26, 2009, will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Ealy of Forestville United Methodist Church officiating.A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John's Reformed Church in East Sharpsburg with the Rev. Kenneth G. Downs officiating. Burial will be at the East Sharpsburg Cemetery, Blair County.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235-5927.
