Red Barn opens season with detective farce
FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — “The Up and Down Detective Agency” will begin the Red Barn Players’ season with shows Friday and Saturday as well as June 7-9 and 14-16.
Directed by Nancy Batko and written by Mike Byham, this farce is aimed at film noir movies.
Neil Down and Stan Up run the Up and Down Detective Agency in a “bustling metropolis.”
The year is 1938 and they’re about to take on one of their most puzzling cases. Beautiful (and loaded) blonde Barb Wire hires the detectives to find her missing sister, Case Worker. She thinks there may be foul play involved and Case’s husband, Hardy Worker, is a prime suspect.
Before long, the detectives are knee-deep in a case that involves kidnapping and stolen diamonds. Who can they believe? And will Neil Down’s past catch up with him?
The Red Barn Players summer season also includes:
- “Bonnie & Clyde,” a musical, July 6-7, 12-14 and 19-21
- “Shipwrecked!” a comedy, Aug. 10-11, 16-18 and 23-25
- “Drinking Habits,” a comedy, Sept. 14-15, 20-22 and 27-29.
Performances are at the theater on Route 288, Franklin Township, Beaver County.
