Woman charged with DUI twice in the same day

SLIPPERY ROCK — A woman is accused of driving drunk twice in the same day — eight-and-a-half hours apart.

Elisa C. Watson, 21, of Slippery Rock is due in court next month to face hearings in the separate cases of driving under the influence on May 3.

Slippery Rock police said they came upon Watson around 2:25 a.m. driving a GMC Terrain on Elm Street. While following the vehicle, officer Derek Dickey heard the sound of metal studs hitting the road.

She is charged with DUI, driving with an open container of alcohol, and the studded tire violation.

Watson was processed at the SRU station and allowed to call a friend for a ride home. University police let her borrow a charger for her cell phone to make the call, authorities said.

Apparently, she took the phone charger with her, but around 10:40 a.m. drove back to the SRU police station to return it, according to charging documents.
