Thomas Ley

Thomas Ley, 74, of Butler, formerly of East Liberty, Pittsburgh, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a courageous 4+ year battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born June 23, 1947, in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Wilbert “Buck” and Maria (DeMarco) Ley.

Tom graduated from Central Catholic High School.Tom retired from Steamfitters Local 449 in February of 2011. He was proud of his time spent as a welding and apprentice instructor for his union. He also taught CWI classes around the country for his international union.Tom served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserve becoming a staff sergeant.Tom loved golfing with his wife and friends, and missed this more than anything after his diagnosis when he was no longer able to stand.Tom was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.He leaves behind his best friend and wife of 49 years, Phyllis E. (Worthing) Ley; his children, Todd (Belinda) Stazer, Tammy Gast, Tricia A. O'Connor, and Tim (Dana) Ley; his 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.LEY — Friends of Thomas Ley, who died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
