Elizabeth V. Kusner, 89, of Karns City died at 9:40 p.m. Saturday in ACMH Hospital, Kittanning, following a short illness.

She was born April 24, 1920, in Argentine, Washington Township, the daughter of the late Anthony Vargo and the late Elizabeth Csisrko Vargo.

She was an Avon representative in the Karns City and Fairview areas for many years.

She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially 500 bid, with her family and friends, and flower gardening. She enjoyed going to baseball games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, and the Christian Mothers of the church. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Bruin Senior Center.

Surviving are a daughter, Diana Neff and her husband, William, of Chicora; two sons, Eugene A. Kusner of Chicora and James Lee Kusner and his wife, Beverly, of Karns City; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Irene Lewis of Oneida Valley Road, Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She married James F. Kusner on May 25, 1940, and he died Sept. 23. 1986. She also was preceded in death by a 10-month-old daughter, Mary Elizabeth Kusner; seven brothers; and five sisters.

<B>KUSNER</B> — Friends of Elizabeth V. Kusner, who died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets in Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, with the Rev. Steven Neff officiating.
