Augustine Shuler

Augustine Mae (Maddalena) Shuler, 88, of Slippery Rock, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born May 7, 1932, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Giovannina “Jenny” (Pasqualichio) Maddalena.

She was a homemaker.

Augustine was a member of St. Michael, St. Paul and lastly, St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where she served as a Eucharistic minister.

Augustine was a member of the CD of A and the ladies auxiliary of the Butler post office. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafting. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Surviving are her children, Christine (Scott) Schiebel of Tampa, Fla., Harry Shuler III of Hanover, Michael (Susan) Shuler Sr. of Slippery Rock, and Gregory (Alison) Shuler of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Wimer; a sister-in-law, Jane Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Augustine was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Shuler Jr., who passed away Dec. 28, 2020 (they were married Feb. 14, 1953); a son, Peter Shuler; and her grandson, Paul Jenkins; four sisters, Lucille Glenn, Rose Caputo and Marie Snyder, and an infant sister, Maddalena.

Shuler — A graveside service for Augustine Mae (Maddalena) Shuler, who died Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Cemetery in Butler.

Arrangements completed by Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
