Robert William Groves
Robert William Groves, 81, of Zelienople, formerly of Evans City, passed away Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Mr. Groves was born March 4, 1927, in Jackson Township. He was the son of the late Alfred and Lillian (Brown) Groves.
He was employed at Johns Manville in Zelienople.
Mr. Groves was a Protestant.
He served in the Army during the Korean War as a private first class. Mr. Groves was a member of the New Sewickley American Legion Post 512 of Rochester, the American Legion Post 474 of Zelienople, the Evans City-Harmony VFW Post 499, the DAV Post 64, the L.O.O.M. Lodge 957 of Harmony and also was a lifetime member of the Hungarian Club of Zelienople.
Surviving are three brothers, Floyd Groves of Callery, Ralph (Loretta) Groves of Zelienople and Charles (Jean) Groves of New Manchester, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Chris (Stacy) Ripper of Renfrew and Mrs. Todd (Cheri) Kline of Portersville; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Dustin Kline. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Jim Schoeffel of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Nicklas of Butler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dorothy Ralke.
Mr. Groves was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Knox) Groves, whom he married July 25, 1952, and who died Oct. 15, 2001; a stepson; a daughter; and three brothers.
<B>GROVES</B> — Friends of Robert William Groves, who died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor John Park officiating.
