ADAMS TWP — The board of supervisors approved filing litigation Monday against a shopping plaza in the Adams Ridge development, after “multiple township ordinance violations,” according to chairman Russell Ford.

“This evening we will be starting legal action on Adams Shoppes, which is the Adams Ridge plan,” Ford said. “The reason we want to bring this to the public tonight, to let you know, is we have received numerous phone calls from residents in Adams Ridge and in that area, but also from the commercial properties that have been there for years.”

While Ford said he could not disclose the nature of the violations, residents have addressed the plaza’s state of disrepair at previous board of supervisors’ meetings. He said the township has attempted to work with the developer concerning the violations for over two years to no avail.

“The developer asked to have a meeting with us — because we had already started the point of legal action — today at 1 p.m., and I was asked to attend also with (solicitor Mike) Gallagher and (township manager Gary) Peaco,” Ford said. “I took time out of my day, we were here and he didn’t even show up.”

Ford said the developer, instead, sent his attorney an hour after the meeting was scheduled to begin.

“We want everybody in this room to know: coming down Route 228, that is one of the first places that people see in this township, and it hasn’t been maintained, and we’re tired of it,” Ford said.

“We want to let you know that we’re going to take it all the way to the end, to not only take care of the residents, but take care of the passengers and visitors that come through this area,” Ford said, “and definitely for the people that are renting in that area — because we’ve had numerous, numerous complaints.”
