The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company’s Fire Cadet Academy concluded Friday, July 28, marking a record-year for the program with 17 participants.
Kevin Smith, fire and hazmat coordinator at Butler County Community College, kicked off the end of the week-long training with a live fire demonstration.
Smith, also deputy chief of the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, demonstrated various fire behaviors for students with a Max Fire Box at the township’s Public Safety Training Facility.
Students also received training on rescue-company operations.
The day then culminated with a live demonstration where students simulated the various operations they drilled throughout the week and a graduation ceremony.
