Mars Athletic Complex closed for resurfacing
Mars Athletic Complex is closed through Monday, Aug. 7, for the resurfacing of its track and all rubberized areas.
This $200,810 maintenance project was approved in June by the Mars Area School Board and is being completed by the AstroTurf/Rekortan company.
Keith Kernic, regional sales manager for the company, said the field was last resurfaced in 2011 and had begun to “unravel” outside its eight- to 10-year life expectancy.
Crews will apply two new coats of polyurethane structural spray to worn out surfaces throughout the complex and re-line the track in preparation for the coming school year.
