Oak Springs Mobile Home Park changes hands
Residents of Oak Springs Mobile Home Park in Cranberry Township received a letter Nov. 17, indicating the community was under new ownership.
“While transition can create confusion, we want you to know that we are a manufactured home community operator,” the letter read, “and our plan is to continue to offer manufactured housing at this location.”
Located off Old Route 19 in the township, Oak Springs is a mobile home community serving residents 55 years and older.
The park’s new Florida-based owners, COARE Communities LLC, hosted a town hall meeting for residents at Perry Circle on Nov. 20.
Resident Rosie Noll said community members raised concerns at the meeting over a potential rent increase following the change.
The new owners confirmed an increase, according to Noll, but told residents they would be notified 60 days beforehand.
“They don’t know how much yet,” she said. “They have to see how much it is in the other trailer parks in the area.”
Noll said she was disappointed with the way the sale was handled.
“I’m 69. We’ve got 80-year-olds and 90-year-olds living in here, and they’re living on very limited incomes,” she said. “To just come in here and do that when we had no idea that they were going to sell the park.”
The new owners did not return a request for comment.
Noll said she was also concerned older residents would have difficulty using the new online payment options or making it to one of the in-person payment sites.
“I just want these people to be taken care of,” she said. “I don’t want them to be stuck with outrageous lot rent in homes they’ve been living in for 20 to 30 years.”
