1 injured in Zelie kitchen fire
Seven departments responded to a kitchen fire Saturday, Dec. 16, that left one Zelienople resident injured.
“He did get transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation,” said Chief Scott Garing, Harmony Fire District, “and I believe he had a burn on his foot.”
Crews were dispatched around 8:30 p.m., according to Garing, for a house fire at 603 Market St. in the borough.
“It was a cooking incident where the microwave caught fire in the house,” he said.
It took about 30 minutes to get under control, Garing said, with crews working to keep the fire from spreading throughout the home.
The residence ”had smoke damage throughout,” he said, “and then the kitchen was pretty well destroyed.”
Also responding were Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, Adams Area Fire District, Evans City Volunteer Fire Department, Callery Volunteer Fire Company and Harmony EMS, as well as Beaver County’s Big Knob Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.
“We plan for our best response at the worst time of day,” Garing said of the turnout.
