Man charged in chain of break-ins
State police in Butler charged a man with breaking in to multiple buildings, including a fire hall.
Patrick Jose Butcherine, 39, was charged with felony criminal trespass and misdemeanor trespassing in an enclosed facility after he allegedly broke into multiple Marion Township buildings on Friday, Jan. 24.
Police said Butcherine accessed the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company social hall through a window before he was confronted by firefighters. After leaving, police said Butcherine accessed a Middendorf Street home through a door designed to keep people out.
A firefighter and the homeowner removed Butcherine from the residence and detained him until police arrived, according to the affidavit. Police said Butcherine admitted to using marijuana and suboxone, a medication to treat opioid dependence.
Butcherine’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Feb. 4 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
