Man charged with assaulting treatment unit employee

State police charged an Emlenton man after he allegedly assaulted a Western Secure Treatment Unit employee.

Derrick Omar Robinson, 18, of Emlenton, was charged with one felony count of assaulting an employee while incarcerated and two felony counts of aggravated assault following a Tuesday, Feb. 4, incident at the treatment unit, which is located in Venango County.

Police said Robinson attacked one employee, and when another employee intervened, Robinson attacked him as well.

A counselor attempted to restrain Robinson when he turned around and began punching the counselor, according to the affidavit. Police said the counselor estimated he was punched in the face with closed fists about seven times. The counselor lost his balance and fell, and Robinson reportedly stomped on the back of his head three times.

Robinson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 18 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
