Man charged after hitting pedestrian with vehicle in parking lot
State police in Mercer County accused a man of purposely hitting someone with his car in the Sheetz parking lot off Interstate 79 in Springfield Township.
John Michael Archuleta, 29, of Mercer, was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and summary reckless driving related to the Jan. 31 incident.
Police said Archuleta was calling a man in the checkout line profanities without provocation. Police said they obtained surveillance footage showing Archuleta leave the store to sit inside his dark blue Honda Passport SUV before speeding toward the man after he exited the store. The SUV struck the man before leaving the scene, according to the affidavit.
Archuleta’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. March 24 before District Judge Daniel Davis.
