Man charged with showing pornography to a juvenile at downtown Butler business
A Lyndora man allegedly watched and showed a juvenile a pornographic video at Dunkin Donuts along Butler’s Main Street earlier this week, according to charges file Monday, Feb. 24.
Robert Charles Elliot Jr., 68, of Lyndora, was arrested at Altitude Trampoline Park in the Clearview Mall later that day, according to the affidavit. Police said he was found to be a registered sex offender.
Elliot was charged with felony failing to provide accurate registration information and misdemeanor corruption of minors and possession of an instrument of a crime related to the alleged Sunday incident.
Police said interviews with two store employees and the juvenile who witnessed the pornographic material indicated that Elliot had showed the child with phone while the video was playing. One of the employees had also witnessed the material on Elliot’s phone, police said.
One employee took a photo of Elliot’s car before he left, according to the affidavit.
Police tracked the car to Altitude Trampoline Park in the Clearview Mall and arrested Elliot, who admitted to the incident, according to the affidavit. Elliot was located inside the trampoline park. He told police he went inside to use the bathroom, the affidavit said.
Police found Elliot to be registered with Megan’s Law, but the vehicle he was using was not registered, according to the affidavit. Elliot was registered in 2002 after being convicted for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault in 1997 and 1998.
Elliot is being held in the Butler County Prison on a $250,000 bond. Elliot’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
