Man charged after explicit contact with juveniles, placing hidden cameras
A Grove City man has been charged with inappropriately touching two female juveniles and installing hidden cameras to watch the juveniles and a woman.
Grove City police charged Brendan L. Shollenberger, 36, with four felony counts of corruption of minors, three felony counts of indecent assault, two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children and felony aggravated indecent assault related to incidents dating to Sept. 15, 2018.
Police said they received a Children and Youth Services referral Feb. 11 saying two females younger than 15 years old found hidden cameras in their room and did not know how long they had been there. The juveniles also alleged inappropriate contact with Shollenberger, according to the affidavit.
The juveniles described experiencing similar contact with Shollenberger in a Feb. 13 forensic interview with police. They described inappropriate touching in the crotch area from Shollenberger while watching TV, being asked to try on bras in front of him with explicit contact, being asked to kiss Shollenberger on the lips regularly and him often climbing into their beds before school.
Shollenberger also was charged with felony intercepting communications and misdemeanor invasion of privacy related to a Jan. 19 incident. A woman told police Shollenberger returned to the house and installed cameras in her bedroom and the kitchen, according to the affidavit.
The woman told police Shollenberger had been voluntarily deployed to Africa and installed the camera when he returned.
The woman told police she had received upset messages from Shollenberger about a man in the house after the cameras were installed. The message led her to discover the camera in her room and a camera in one of the juvenile’s bedrooms, according to the affidavit.
Shollenberger’s preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
