Driver facing DUI charges following Route 38 crash causing bruised heart, broken bones for another
An Eau Claire man is facing charges after police say his vehicle struck another vehicle head-on, causing the other driver serious injuries.
Seth D. Heist, 18, was charged with felony aggravated assault by vehicle while under the influence, two misdemeanor DUI counts and one misdemeanor count of drug paraphernalia possession following a Jan. 31 crash on Route 38 in Center Township.
Police said Heist crossed the center lane in his vehicle and hit a car head-on, causing a bruised heart, broken vertebrae and three broken ribs for the person driving that vehicle.
It appeared Heist had fallen asleep as there was no attempt to stop, police said.
Police found a MUHA MEDS THC box in Heist’s vehicle. Police said a blood test showed THC in his system.
Both drivers were transported to Allegheny General Hospital, PIttsburgh.
Heist’s preliminary hearing is not yet scheduled.
