Woman identified in fatal crash in Concord Township
State police have released the identity of the woman killed in a crash Monday, March 10, in Concord Township.
Dora B. Hovis, 48, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene of the head-on crash, which was reported around 4 p.m. along Route 38, just north of its intersection with Rider Road, according to a crash report from state police.
Two others were taken to Pittsburgh area hospitals following the crash, police said.
According to the crash report, Hovis was a passenger in a Honda CR-V that was struck on the front-right side by a Cadillac SRX, driven by Diane T. Schomburger, 34, of Allison Park. Ronald A. Hovis, 67, of St. Petersburg, was driving the CR-V, the report said.
Schomburger was flown to Presbyterian Hospital, and Ronald Hovis was flown to Allegheny General Hospital. Reports from emergency dispatch showed the two patients were taken to the hospitals by medical helicopters.
Police said the crash occurred at around 3:52 p.m. The drivers were traveling in opposite directions on Route 38 when Schomburger’s Cadillac SRX veered into the opposite lane. Police said the driver of the Honda CR-V attempted to avoid the collision by swerving into Schomburger’s lane, but the Cadillac swerved back into her lane and struck the vehicle head-on.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Chicora Volunteer Fire Department, Karns City Regional Ambulance Service, the Butler County Coroner’s Office and Malinski Towing also responded to the crash.
